REFUGEE
HIGHWAY PARTNERSHIP
An international team of approximately 35 people with a core administrative
team of 9 people has launched The Refugee Highway Partnership. A new
network of the Missions Commission of World Evangelical Alliance, the
partnership seeks to create and nurture a Christian community that:
facilitates
more effective refugee ministry, stimulates strategic initiatives, inspires
and
equips the church so that refugee ministries are strengthened and more
refugees
are served. "Ministering to 37 million refugees is a huge challenge
for the global
church. This new strategic partnership will help the Christian community
serve
even more refugees and do it more effectively," says Geoff Tunnicliffe,
chair,
Global Mission Roundtable, Evangelical Fellowship of Canada and director
of
the WEA Refugee Highway Consultation. For more information on this initiative,
send a message to: info@worldevangelical.org. If you would like a copy

WITH
OUR OWN EYES - excellent! - Here is the story of people who threw
themselves into an effort to take the teachings of Jesus seriously,
"in scorn of the consequences."
The "consequences" have been amazing. These
passionate Christians have participated in saving hundreds of refugee
lives, traveled to war zones around the world, chased midnight trains
bearing nuclear weapons, and endured imprisonment. They have experienced
nationwide media attention.
These Christians, based at Jubilee Partners in Comer,
Georgia, have experienced an ever-deepening commitment to being channels
of Gods love in a violent world. Through sharing their story,
Don Mosley with Joyce Hollyday invites thousands more Christians to
join them in this effort.
"With Our Own Eyes is the inspiring story of
what can happen when a group of Christians take seriously Jesus
call to be peacemakers in a world full of violence. I have been encouraged
by the work of Jubilee Partners as I have tried to put my own faith
into action."

REAL REFUGEE
http://www.wr.org/whats_new/view.asp?id=30000017
World Relief has launched a programme called Real Refugee designed to
help
teens identify with the suffering victims of war, terror and persecution.
Real
Refugee makes the plight of suffering people relevant to teenagers by
exposing
them to actual problems that refugees encounter. The overnight youth
programme shows teens what newly arrived refugees to the West must face
-
hunger, crowded housing facilities, intense scrutiny from immigration
officials,
and the struggle of adapting to a different culture. Participants said
they
experience the feelings of fear, loneliness, isolation and rejection
that refugees go
through. As teens realize how much they have in common with refugees,
they
adopt a sense of acceptance and understanding toward people who are
"different." The Bible-centered programme is available to
interested student
organisations, youth groups, high schools and colleges. For more information
visit the web site above.
